Thompson Ferrier - About Us

The true life love story of Pauline Dana and Raffi Arslanian began at a restaurant called Ferrier on the Upper East Side in New York City.  After years of knowing each other, Pauline and Raffi had their first "real" date at a bar on Thompson Street in Soho, New York. Creating their home fragrance line has been an amazing endeavor for them as they were inspired by the passion and love they have for each other. It was only fitting to make the name of the line something personal that represents their romance, Thompson Ferrier.  

Pauline Dana, a native New Yorker, has been collaborating with Raffi since late 2005 on a number of real estate development projects. She is strongly motivated by her extensive world travels and experiences with many cultures and lifestyles. Along with her flair for design, she created Thompson Ferrier to be simple, elegant, and stylish. Pauline has a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing and a Master’s in Nutrition.

Raffi Arslanian is a trained architect and has worked for over 25 years in real estate development. He has built over $250 million in suburban and urban residential commercial communities spanning New Jersey and New York. In 2009, Raffi won a "Vision Award" for his keen understanding of the lifestyle needs of metropolitan home buyers. He also comes from a family with over 50 years experience in worldwide production and distribution of exclusive luxury brand fragrances.

The creation of Thompson Ferrier has been a labor of love for Pauline and Raffi that has taken years to develop. It was crucial that both the glass container and the fragrance of the candle had equal importance. They specifically designed the candles with stunning hand-etched glass to look beautiful in the home when not lit. The wax is a cosmetic grade soy blend with fragrant oils of the purest quality. The cotton wicks produce a clean burn and eliminate sooting therefore allowing the fragrance to fill the room. Each candle has a 30-90 hour burn time, depending on its shape and size and is hand-poured and packaged in the USA. Pauline and Raffi tested hundreds of formulations by their international perfumers over a four year period to collect the final selection of fragrances that were meaningful and personal to them. This led to fragrances with deep top, middle and base notes. In addition, Pauline and Raffi studied every detail and did thousands of tests in all imaginable spaces with a multitude of wax, wick and fragrance formulas to find the right combination of how a candle should diffuse, how high a flame should be, and how the wax should pool.

Thompson Ferrier candles are available in 10 unique fragrant blends including unscented, for anyone who may be sensitive to fragrance but still wants the beauty and elegance of a lit candle.The candles exude sophistication and style with several different finishes, including a sleek black finish and white "swirl" hand-etched finish. The sculptured vessels are packaged in elegant rectangular, square, and circular boxes and reusable hand sewn pouches.
